Like Kath I wasn't really expecting to see ice rather than water yesterday morning when I went down to the meadows for a walk but there was quite a lot of sheet ice on the puddles. It must be a left-over from Saturday because it was very cold Friday night and Saturday night. I should have looked ahead to the upcoming themes and made some closer-up pics. Not very visible - part frozen puddles. DSCF6797.jpg by Pete, on Flickr

Ooh, my cousin had one of those in a bottle. I was staying with my aunt for some reason, and her two children were away at boarding school. I was being nosy and having a look at his bookshelves when I found the scorpion. Decided his bookshelves didn't need my attention after that. I'd have been about 8. How about one of these?

I assume yours was dead not kept as a pet This one is relatively big, so apparently wouldn't have a really bad sting, I have another much smaller one among my collection of creepy crawlies etc to photograph. The plastic used to encase them is sadly not very even (refraction between layers) & causes all sorts of awkward reflections... Just slipping one out from a bottle could make it much easier to get interesting angles (provided it's not going to get you!)

I went to a BBQ once that had loads of exotic foods, including locusts, which my youngest was happy to work his way through. No scorpions IIRC, but surely the chocolate wouldn't go well with them. They're out of stock at the moment, so I guess I won't find out.
