Ooh, my cousin had one of those in a bottle. I was staying with my aunt for some reason, and her two children were away at boarding school. I was being nosy and having a look at his bookshelves when I found the scorpion. Decided his bookshelves didn't need my attention after that. I'd have been about 8. I assume yours was dead not kept as a pet This one is relatively big, so apparently wouldn't have a really bad sting, I have another much smaller one among my collection of creepy crawlies etc to photograph. The plastic used to encase them is sadly not very even (refraction between layers) & causes all sorts of awkward reflections... Just slipping one out from a bottle could make it much easier to get interesting angles (provided it's not going to get you!) It was a long time ago but I believe it was in some kind of liquid...formaldehyde presumably?

Scenery Machinery by Nigel Hayes, on Flickr Central in this picture is my first ever digital camera - a Canon D30 which I purchased second hand from LCE in late 2004. Considering I'm still using it on and off nearly 20 years later I reckon it counts as a bargain...
