Honey Mustard Wild Boar With Cabbage and Leeks copy by Kath Polley, on Flickr I messaged my daughter and without explaining why, asked her to choose between the number three or the number five, (the two named hard drives I currently have plugged into my computer.) She chose 3. Then I asked her to choose a number from 18, 19, 20 or 21. (These being the folders for the respective years.) She chose 20. Next I asked her to pick a month of the year and she picked October. There were 42 images in the October folder and she picked number 39. This is evidence that I was bored and messing around with DXO Nik collection. I really wish she'd picked a different number!

Page 20 of my Flickr, October is the 10th month, so 10th image down. I'll ignore the number 39 Edit. I hadn't seen Keiths idea of using Flickr before posting this! skull 1 by Nigel G, on Flickr

Not sharp but it was about to fly off. I looked up out the window of my study, back in 2007 and saw this sparrowhawk. Grabbed my camera almost too late. aug12 2007 hawk mono by Kate Ferris, on Flickr

With hindsight I should not have been surprised to find snowdrops in January. A 10-24 mm zoom, even on APS-C isn't the best tool for the job. I'd say they do grow sort of randomly. Certainly not an ordered planting. DSCF6824.jpg by Pete, on Flickr

I was surprised to find a flower out. Seemed sort of random chance at the time. There were several buds though. DSCF6839.jpg by Pete, on Flickr

Absolutely nothing to do with the theme for today. I just decided to post it on a whim. Three stages of timber. DSCF6838.jpg by Pete, on Flickr

Unlucky for unlucky by Kate Ferris, on Flickr Hawthorn, used in herbal medicine, is said to protect houses from being struck by lightning. It was long regarded as a protection against the evil spirits believed to roam the Earth, especially on the eve of great festivals such as May Day. In the 17th century the English essayist Francis Bacon noted the general belief that the plague could be detected by 'the smell of a mellow apple and (as some say) of May flowers'. This may explain the superstition that hawthorn flowers, or May blossom, invite bad luck if taken inside the house. I do remember my mother getting angry when I arrived at our home one day carrying some blossoms. I had to take them out again. She never explained why - or I don't remember.

Unlucky timing to miss the train at Lea Bridge, I turned up just as it departed. Not so un lucky was that I could amuse my self taking pics with my phone for half an hour. Lea Bridge Station IMG_8285edit20231029 by Keith Hudson, on Flickr ^^^ to be honest, with local trains I never check the times and just turn up which explains all the pictures taken at train stations many of which never get to Flickr.
