My wife wanted the tree etc put up this weekend. Not sure why folk think we are weird, lol, but this is my effort for this year. Quite pleased how I managed to get the bulbs in the eye pieces between the mask and the mannequin head that lives in there! Christmas tree by Nigel G, on Flickr Mask shadows by Nigel G, on Flickr In fairness, we will be having a tree too. This might remain as a permanent feature though.

Weird no, bizarre definitely Possibly a bit premature in definitively ruling out weird - which in my world is not an insult.

I like it
Probably won't bother with the deformed shrub (My Xmas tree I mistakenly brought one that's half a tree it's supposed to lean against a wall but then realised I don't have a wall to lean it against so it really shouldn't stand up at all but it doesn't as a friend said "It's just like you, scruffy, wonky but still somehow standing up even if it shouldn't be") this year. I tidied things up in the bedroom and now the bag it's in is under several others but we'll see with the way things are I am cancelling Xmas anyway I won't get my state pension until the 29th so can't afford presents etc

Love it. It reminds me (in a good way) of being a student with no money for a Christmas tree. We decorated a second hand coat stand instead and someone plonked a Freddie mask on top of it.
We'll be decorating our tree on Sunday. I say 'we' but my intention is to let my daughter do it while I sit back and eat camembert. I don't know when it became a chore rather than a pleasure but as much as I genuinely love the effect, the task itself leaves me cold these days.

I do the lights on it then Sarah does the baubles. I don't like having a tree up, but strangely enough I fancied a real one this year but as we go away on Monday for 7 nights didn't seem worth the expense to get home to a pile of needles!

I don't like having a tree up, but strangely enough I fancied a real one this year but as we go away on Monday for 7 nights didn't seem worth the expense to get home to a pile of needles! We always had a real one, right up until last year. The year before, the tree was so wide that we had to cut a load of it away to allow us all to sit in the living room. I commented that it was a pity they didn't grow tall skinny trees because we have the ceiling height for a big tree...just not the width that inevitably comes along with it. So we bought a tall, thin, prelit tree which from a distance, the branches of which look quite realistic, if not the shape. But it fits. And we can all sit. And it is prelit so nobody has to do the lights. I did miss having a real tree though so last year I bought a small potted job from the local supermarket to put in the hall. I planted it out but it didn't survive. Not sure I'll bother this year. Quite happy to stay fake.

For the aroma just by pine air freshener, and then get a picture of a tree...less mess...bah! humbug

Remember the 1970s when the trade unions were constantly on strike. Even the fairy lights adopted a policy of one out, all out.

Normal decent healthy sensible clever people say bah humbug and try to hibernate until hogmanay... the really sensible ones hibernate from the autumnal equinox to the spring equinox...might just be awake in time for chocolate at Easter...and then spend the summer drinking at barbecues, festivals etc.

As zou says - Bah Humbug!!! I will continue not wasting time, effort nor money on anything to do with Xmas decorations or cards as I have done for the last 15 years. My only expenditure on anything Xmas related will be a small Xmas pud and a few mince pies.
