A couple from Manchester City Centre last night (albeit this is on the Salford side of the river). I can't believe how much the centre has changed as I don't go in that often. Put in even more Bus Gates! Expecting a fine in the post next week! New Bailey by Nigel G, on Flickr New Bailey 2 by Nigel G, on Flickr

Well, I can't put it off any longer, although I'd like to. I know there were not many entries, but what there was was much appreciated by me - and made my life difficult picking a winner. Thank you all for your photos. I enjoyed them all. However, here's my final words and feelings. SEPTEMBER MONTHLY CHALLENGE RESULTS Nige Alone. Stark and isolated and dark. Alone on the U Bahn station Overhead shot of the line at the Station. Both strikingly Bauhaus and perfect in B&W Manchester city centre is totally suited to this treatment. Shock and awe combined with the height is enhanced with the dark B&W treatment. Zou Podium depicts the feel of the location and birds with no distractions. St Dunstan in the East has a lovely soft intimate quality which I love. No distractions of colour and well suited to the portrayal here. A855 to the Old Man of Storr has a real chilly feel and bleak. Just right for B&W. Dans Man on step in front of the building. Has a quiet feel but lurking exclusion by the window bars and the whole has a slight sadness. The grey tones are perfect. The pianist is a perfect example suited to B&W. Noted! Kath Henry Bell could not have been otherwise. Great example of how it really was. Bipolar Very compelling picture of your cat. Keith The moss on the tree ticked all the boxes for me. I come back to it frequently to enjoy looking at it. The softness and yet clear view of the moss is beautiful. Jack The train station in Winnipeg, Manitoba is stunning. Beautiful light and a perfect B&W rendition. Beautiful. Peterob The little egret on the sand breaks all the rules but is great in B&W and a striking shot. For my repeat viewing I was torn between Keith's Moss, Nige's UBahn interiors and Zou's St Dunstan in the East pictures. In the end, I pick Zou's St Dunstan in the East where the whole image, the almost secretive view and intimacy won me over. So over to you zou and good luck.

Thanks kate for the privilege of picking another theme. I'll have something up by the end of day.

Good choice Kate, well done Zou!
I've been out unintentionally testing the weatherproofing on my Fuji kit, two hours in the pouring rain at probably the last Chester races day of the year. Maybe (if there any results when everything dries out) there will be some mono conversion opportunities there - it was almost all grey anyway.

Thank you for the comments on so many of the pictures Kate, I am pleased you liked my mossy trees and I have to agree, Zou's shot of St. Dunstan in the East is very good. It is actually one of my favourite places in the City and always worth a diversion if I am walking back from around the Tower of London to London Bridge station. Well done zou.
