Since you ask, (quite a bit closer than your's) here's the flies foot House fly foot by Mike Kanssen, on Flickr Mind you I couldn't have got that close with a live fly, and your shot is a more pleasing image... To be honest my fly had clearly been dead sometime, bit's kept falling off it...

Must have been DorsetMike, probably just 'filters' which I spiced up a bit.
Not guilty, can't remember using any filters either.

So it must have been one of my cats that told me to do it, or it could have come from a list of previous other forum contests and themes.

I was thinking on heavily processed images though I suppose the modifications on this one are not strictly by filters but using the auto-mask (subject -> invert) which is in the same Lightroom menu as the linear and radial gradient filters. It was for a theme on APForum on low-key so I took a very dark subject and made the whole picture very dark. Selective filtering as it were. First - possibly the only - "creative" editing I was able to do because I could imagine the outcome somewhat. You have all seen it before so maybe I should have left it. Anyway - now I've found the pics and done the typing. Before: BV9R0093.jpg by Pete, on Flickr After: BV9R0093.jpg by Pete, on Flickr

Must have been DorsetMike, probably just 'filters' which I spiced up a bit. I've just checked through the list I forwarded to you back in Feb. It did have 'Digital filters' at one point near the end & specifically ND filters at another... Doesn't seem to be anything with generic filters, if you need someone to blame, you can say I lead you astray, with those... But I think the widened alternative is something you deserve all the credit for.

At least they are real and visible unlike the whippet I had which was both invisible and very badly behaved, especially at parties.

The only picture I can think of that fits the bill is this one from 2007. I made it mono - possibly if we had a "minimalist" theme on APForum, which does seem likely because they are both in my Flickr AP folder. I'll give both mono and colour versions.
