230826-Hermitage Park-013 by Kath Polley, on Flickr Believe it or not, this is the park horse that I rode as a child. My son rode on it too but shortly after that it broke. When the park tried to have it repaired, Health & Safety said no. Too dangerous. So they buried it and now small children climb over it and pretend theyr'e riding a horse, only with none of the terror that I 'enjoyed'.

Liked for the image, liked for the memories, liked for the re use, not liked for why they thought it needed to be buried.

A very large gadget. Metal Planer Crossness. by Keith Hudson, on Flickr It does what it's name would have you think, it moves a very large metal object against a fixed single point cutting tool, sort of a supersized shaper that moved the work piece rather than the cutting tool. I find the action and sounds of a shaper or planer to be quite hypnotic and soothing, if I had a large indoor workshop I would get one just relax listening to it's motion.

The remains of part of a quarry loading system, this gadget originally dumped loads from the buckets into the barge & acted as the return pully for the cable system.

A couple of shots of a photographic gadget I've since sold (that last bit makes it a real rarity!) This is a reflex viewer for a 5x4 camera:

This year I had intended to get out and about with my 54 Sinar, I bought the back pack and a carbon fibre tripod, then dislocated my left shoulder. That was two months ago and my shoulder is still not 100% right, on a good day there is a feeling of pins and needles down to my fingers which is considerably better than the pain it caused at the time so things are getting better it is just very very slow.
One day we will venture out.

Back in the day I dislocated my shoulder when my car clipped the edge of the pavement as I turned into a garage. I do remember the shock! Anyway, much as I was told to be careful. I couldn't avoid having to lift out heavy hard disc platters from a Data General mini computer system, and continuing to drive, so it didn't get the chance to heal properly. In later life I have ongoing problems of bursitis and nerve entrapment and arthritis, so be warned!! Take care of it now.

I am trying to not stress it too often and have only done a couple of heavy lifting days for work, mostly doing PM or small maintenance jobs. My bike, the ZX9R in my user name has been un ridden since it was laid up for the winter in 2019, over the last couple of weeks I have been recommissioning it, I am hoping to get new tyres and MOT next week. Getting the bike sorted is something else I wanted to do earlier in the summer, we will see how well that goes.
