That's how I noticed it was missing. Then Winston Smith came along! I knew the name, Winston Smith, but couldn't remember from where so googled him. Ouch! Quoted from Google Winston Smith, fictional character, the protagonist of George Orwell's cautionary novel Nineteen Eighty-four (1949). A minor bureaucrat in the civil service, Winston Smith lives a drab, conforming existence but wants to experience a meaningful life as an individual. Hope you realise the reference was more about his day job than his persona.
