If they wanted to create revenue, they should recruit poop officers ride round on scooters handing out £60 fines to dog owners fouling the pavements. Now that would create revenue!! I hope it isn’t the dog owners fouling the pavements! KLAXON And the award goes to geoffr Round of applause

Spent a month driving in Italy this year and even they are better than British roads, wouldn’t say the same about Italian drivers. French roads are excellent.

Lol, you obviously didn't do the route I took into Tuscany and drove around that area! Seriously, they were awful. The motorway running by Genoa had pot holes, the van was constantly banging over the uneven surface. We drove from Aosta down to San G. Other than stopping for rest breaks, we never left the van. My wife was sat in the back and was bounced around that much, her Apple Watch showed she had completed her exercise ring, lol. I agree about the French roads. The Spanish roads are also very good.

Only got down as far as florence this year, stayed mainly in Liguria. It’s not so much motorways in this country that are bad but normal residential areas in ordinary towns are awful. Although I must admit it was quite an exciting edge of your seat drive up into the hills where we rented the house. One of the things that make Italian motorways seem bad is (the comparison) after driving down the brilliant French ones.

I had a week driving in Sicily last month, pot holes were better than round here. Italian drivers were very chaotic, driving either side of us at quite high speed - very unnerving - however accidents seemed to be very rare, so I think their drivers are good. In Paris it seems at least half the cars are dented, but I never saw a single dent in Sicily...

Sicily was mad…. Stayed in the hills just above Palermo and it was bizarre. Driving in town and somebody would just stop, get out of the car and disappear into a shop leaving everybody stuck behind them. Very often two or three roads merge into one, everybody just goes for it and it works… no accidents. On the motorways no matter how fast your going there is nearly always somebody 3 feet behind you tooting their horn. Their drivers are good…. Just ever so slightly mad.
