At least it comes with a warning. It says right up front that there is a foreword by Iain Duncan Smith.

Hmmmm The GWPF and the Net Zero Watch... A bunch of Tory climate deniers who have lots of money invested in fossil fuels.
A complete bunch of twunts who shouldn't be listened to.
What they actually know about climate change could be written 10,000 times on the back of a napkin used at one of their expensive 'money raising' lunches.
And if you believe anything they say... well, more fool you!

The author is already out of date with his battery technology.
Better off watching the video I posted last night in the what are you watching thread.
Either way the pdf or the video does nothing to convince me away from the view that the real problem is the size of the human population.

There is a more realistic guide to net zero here. Who wants it?

There is a more realistic guide to net zero here. Who wants it? The Daily Septic... from the rectum mouthpiece of Toby Young... more misinformation about covid, net zero and brexit. Dear oh dear, we do have some choice links being posted lately. Shall we wait for someone to post articles from the Daily Heil and present them as factual?

If you think it's wrong then please say what is factually wrong or even better show how net zero can realistically be achieved without destroying the standard of living of all but the elite.

Fact of life - the world does not owe you an argument.

Undesirable climate change is happening and anthropogenic air pollution is certainly one cause. There may be other causes. I argue that the solutions suggested by the arts grad scientists are not practical.

If you think they are wrong then please demonstrate how each and every one of them are factually wrong - and why each science grad grad who agree with any such points are also wrong. Could take a while so you had best get on it right away.

Undesirable climate change is happening and anthropogenic air pollution is certainly one cause. There may be other causes. I argue that the solutions suggested by the arts grad scientists are not practical. Undesirable climate change is happening. Anthropogenic emissions of CO2 are the primary attributable cause. Anthropogenic emissions of methane are implicated but there are also huge biogenic and natural sources of methane. Neither CO2 or CH4 is an air pollutant as far as air quality legislation is concerned. It is not accurate to say that anthropogenic air pollution is one cause of climate change although there are links. Eliminating air pollution will not stop climate change. There is a link between CH4 air concentrations and tropospheric ozone, potentially affecting baseline ozone concentrations (=background ozone) at global scale. Tropospheric ozone is an air pollutant but it isn't emitted, it is created and destroyed by chemical reactions in the atmosphere. It has a minor role in climate change. Anthropogenic emissions of black carbon (soot) are an air pollutant (a component of particulate matter). They have a minor role in climate change as an air pollutant. Deposition of black carbon can alter surface albedo and the amount of radiation adsorbed at the ground. It is implicated in the warming of glaciers both at altitude and in polar regions but is not a direct cause of climate change. Other anthropogenic emissions, especially of sulphur, have had a net cooling effect on the atmosphere. Climate change is an issue now (politically mainstream since ~2008) because the success of policies to reduce air pollution, especially Sulphur, in Europe and North America (since the 1970's) removed enough of the cooling effect to make it absolutely certain that the world was warming. It is ironic that the more that is done to reduce air pollution, the more quickly the effects of climate change have become apparent. It is possible to "turn off" pollutant cooling effects, because most pollutants have very short atmospheric residence timescales, but not the long term cumulative effect of CO2 (not an air pollutant) emissions, because CO2 stays in the atmosphere for a long time.

Re methane. I trust you have seen the stuff about "Arctic sinkholes"? Kinda sounds like we're already past that tipping point. Or nobody noticed exploding permafrost until fairly recently!?

I've never had to look further than my own family for unsustainable growth.
