In the developed world the established population is not producing enough children to maintain itself.
The so called third world has high fertility that is unsupportable.
Population is getting away from the original post. Net zero is not affordable with present technology.

Those that are dispatched could be used in power stations in replace of fossil fuel (not sure how green that would be). Those on the cusp of being dispatched could be housed in big warehouses and made to walk/jog/run on treadmills charging batteries etc. it’s the way forward. I’m thinking of joining the Tory party. We must ensure that the warehouses are painted a nice drab grey colour. No nice murals etc. we wouldn’t want to make it a nicer environment for them. |

Net zero is not affordable with present technology. Perhaps the authors of those links just underestimate the power of creative carbon accounting and marketing. Just stop oil seem to have the hang of it with their "environmentally friendly orange confetti glitter and jigsaw pieces". It's not like it took disabling carbon sinks to get raw materials, folk driving around and ordering stuff off Etsy  . |

I didn't watch the 6 o'clock news but I suspect the topics discussed in this video are of greater importance.
As an aside round here part of a field that hasn't been farmed in years has been given a short stay of execution from housing developers due to a slowdown of sales of the new houses nearby. The land that hasn't been built on yet is full of long grasses, wildflowers and saplings that are just starting to get leaves above the grasses. There is a visible increase in biomass and biodiversity as the years pass, much like in other successful rewilding projects but with zero effort. Destroying it should be a crime.
