I've seen a lot of cameras lately - including some odd looking ones. I presume they were fitted with Power Zooms - not that I know what a power zoom looks like - they were very bulky in shape.

A sad fact for me is that despite owning dozens of cameras and even more lenses, almost every memorable picture (favourite) was grabbed using either a basic point & shoot or more recently my phone.
Every one of those pictures was either family or friends (or pets). Today, years later, the moment has passed, everyone is older or sadly passed away….I am so grateful that I have these simple pictures that very often caught the essence of that moment, simply because I didn’t have to think, drop the conversation, fumble etc etc. I just pointed and pressed!! And in that instant immortalised that moment. Great memories that I hope to eventually use to create a series of photo books.
For the past 2 months I’ve been using a lumix LX100, trying to get into the habit of taking it everywhere, yet still I find that when something catches my eye the lumix is either in my backpack or worse…in the car and so I reach for my phone which is always ALWAYS with me, be it bed, bath, work etc etc….it’s with me 24/7 hence it always steps up if other cameras are not at hand.

I hope that you do not take any accidental selfies from your bath and accidentality post them to all your contacts.

Aye, suspect things are still a long way off with the economies of scale and competition in the market compared to 20 years ago. And this afternoon I bumped into a lady with a Lumix taking pictures of her dog in the park. It would have been more alliterative if you'd perused a person in the park photographing their pooch with a Pentax
