You're definitely getting the hang of those butterflies. Baby steps! Missing focus a lot of the time. I'm not steady enough, unsurprising really, but yesterday, photographing small flowers with macro lens and 5Ds, really brought it home to me. Thank you for the encouragement. |

This poor little fella endured a night of terrible rain and winds. Despite all the damage to its wings, it still managed to fly about much like any other butterfly  |

Good stuff although we have Ruby-Tailed Wasps and Bumblebee Hoverfly here.  IIRC the wasps are dependant on a particular species of caterpillar so you need habitat with those and some dead standing wood with holes they roost in. The big hoverflies are a bugger to get near though  . |

Sigma with external focus? The TC I have doesn't work with my internal focus Canon 100mm as the moving elements in the lens can whack into the rubber bit of the TC that sticks out the front.
Was gutted I never had my MP-E when I saw this harvestman posing nicely earlier...  ...not that the nutcase Bulldog I had with me at the time would likely have let me work the shot anyway. Best not to get too distracted with her on the loose either. This garden spider caught my eye eventually too....saw the web but took a while to find the spider. Not used to seeing them so well camouflaged but they can blend in well in the right environment.  |

Sigma APO DG 2x converter with Sigma 105mm f2.8 EX DG HSM lens. Canon 100mm macro lenses aren't compatible with any TC to the best of my knowledge.
