TGI Friday short beef ribs from the freezer with baked rosemary new potatoes and roast sweetheart cabbage. Not bad but not the best barbeque sauce and not a patch on Tony Roma's.

Like a regular McPlant but bigger. That good? Aye. About twice as good, give or take.

Denver steak from Morrison's. It was nicely marbled with fat. Not big lumps of fat like rib eye but thin streaks. It looked nice. Ive never knowingly had it before. It was suspiciously less expensive than most steak but the instructions said fry it 2 minutes each side. Googling informed me that it was from the fore quarter, not far from the flat iron steak which I also had not ever tried. This was not promising tender steak. We all 'know' that hind quarter is best, don't we? I considered the slow option of braising but decided on following the cooking instructions. Two minutes a side in a pan equates to 90 seconds in a double sided grill (in my case a George Foreman).
Surprise, surprise. It was very good. Not tough and with excellent flavour. Certainly as good as most rump and not as expensive. I will look out for it again.

The Co-op in Dalbeattie (Dumfries and Galloway) certainly used to do (and may still do) flatiron steaks ridiculously cheap. Not a recognised Scottish cut. Sainsbury's also did Popeseye steak seriously cheap. Called something else (cannot remember what) up here so they had to reduce the price to get rid of it because no-one (myself excepted) recognised what it was. Their loss...

Oh. Second last pack of mixed game. Typical veg and flavourings, Dumplings and mashed tatties. Herself pronounced the mashed tatties the best ever. I feel guilty about not at least offering her a statin. The most butter I have ever added...

I've seen Denver Steak in my local Morrison's so will give it a try.
Last night was a pot of Bolognese from the freezer and pasta.
Not sure about tonight, might be a burger.

Had one of those somewhat precooked meal things that you finish in the oven. BBQ pork shoulder that literally just fell apart, with some mashed potatoes and salad.

Lentil and okra curry. Well, moong dal and okra curry to be more precise. My own recipe, plenty of flavour, hot enough to give that zing, cheap as chips. Made a change.

Pope's eye steak is another name for rump steak, usually used in Scotland. Flat iron and Denver steak are similar with both coming from either side of shoulder blade aka chuck steak.
