Premier Inns are a pricey for the weekend as are B&B's in Oxford, the Oxford Caravanning and Camping site just down the road has no availability (but might be an issue with the website as every day seems to be unavailable whenever, so I will phone them). generally checkin times in Premier Inns are at 1500, so out of interest what time were you looking at arranging to meet?

The Google map thingy suggests Travellodge Oxford Peartree is the cheapest budget hotel at £38. Out of curiosity I had a look at train fares down....£155 and it takes ages. Possibly working that weekend anyway as a customer is finishing her chemotherapy and needing me to walk her dogs from her parents house so she can get a wee holiday.

Did you continue onto the Travelodge website? 14th-15th October £123.99. Nowhere near the £38!!

Ouch indeed! Is the Premier Inn in Kidlington any cheaper? It's that much further out.
Timewise I was going to see what time people were looking to arrive, but I suspect 10 will be on the early side. 10.30,11ish?

Depending on where I stay. I'll have to drive down which is a couple of hours, leave car at hotel (obvs won't be able to check in at that time though) then make way into Oxford. I am considering Bicester then catching the train in from there, unless I can get onto the campsite in which case I'd come down Friday night. return train from here takes a few hours, last train back is around 2000hrs and is well over £100 return.

I looked up trains - costs an absolute fortune because I would need a full fare return and an overnight stay. Although I am allowed to drive I'm not sure I'll make it.

Similarly ouch! Ok, I'll start the bidding for a meeting time at 11. Term actually starts the weekend before. Maybe it's just bloody expensive here? Bugger, that's a drag.

I now have to work that day plus due to an exploding washing machine I can't afford the fares (See WGYG) so I will have to miss out

Sorry to hear that, Lesley. At least the washing machine is sorted.
