I think I’ll just drive down for the day and leave the car in the park and ride. A train is not far off 4 hours inc changes and is just under ) £100. Not really an encouragement to use public transport!

Being in the midst of a five hour train journey right now, I know what you mean! The northernmost P&R, Watereaton, is usually quietest on a Saturday, if that's convenient for your direction of arrival, and you might meet me on the bus in. Not sure how its signposted as I never need to use it, but its right next to Oxford Parkway which will definitely be signposted.
