Lou Reed worked as a typist in his dad's law firm. Yeah, just think what you might have achieved.
Kidding dude. Oh what a perfect day Given a choice, I would want to spend it with...not Lou's chosen companion...

Just testing - obviously 'to' is intentionally absent between 'pleased' and 'accept'. Obviously. ..... in 2006 turned down a job as a publishing house proof reader. Can't begin to imagine how dull I would have been if I had accepted that job. You're not a proof reader then? I had assumed you were.

Some doozies today - online. shovinostic voige curtesy I sometimes try to find out if the person making the post has English as their first language. I recall some posts on the AP website (about macro lenses) by a Russian man whose use of English was better than many people who have been through the UK's education system. How many teenagers with a recent GCSE in English would have used who's in that statement?

Or at least, they are long time residents of Helensburgh with Scottish names and nothing else they've ever posted would lead you to think they were anything other than born and bred here. 2. None probably, because it would have involved the use of an apostrophe!

Well it's true that a 'foreign sounding' name doesn't necessarily mean someone is 'foreign'. And I suppose it's entirely possible that we could have some Russian/Indian/Australian/French/German/Italian/Whatever residents here called Paul Sharkey and if so I'm happy to be corrected.

I knew a Russian called McTavish. Mick PS I'm lying of course! In fairness I do know a Russian lady here with a very UK-sounding name although I believe her first name has been anglicised and her last name is her husband's, and he is Scottish. That said you'd know that English wasn't her first language because while it's waaaaaaay better than my Russian which is non-existent, it reads as being just wrong enough all the time to suggest that she's translating from her own language, in the same way that Google translate doesn't do a perfect job all the time. Mr Sharkey on the other hand, just can't spell.
