Well, prompted by neighbourly phone call about happenings over the fence I thought I'd update on the view out of the bedroom towards our garden. The 15' tall wall of mud behind which the houses creep. DSCF1700.jpg by Pete, on Flickr to be more clear on that - the part of the wall behind the greenhouse (horizontal view from bedroom) DSCF1699.jpg by Pete, on Flickr Looks like the dew-pond has had it. Those barriers were supposed to keep people out I thought. Apparently they are pumping it out and the "river" goes down between the back of our fence and the mud wall. Luckily not flooding our garden (yet). DSCF1697.jpg by Pete, on Flickr Last of the fields gets hit by the diggers DSCF1698.jpg by Pete, on Flickr

One of the reasons I've not been posting much or taking many pictures.

Or for his model railway, that's what sheds are for if you don't have a loft or a spare room.

230407-Garden-James-Street=001 by Kath Polley, on Flickr I always say that we don't have a garden, but it's not strictly true. There is a communal garden to the rear of our flat. It used to be well taken care of by a lady who told us she was the only other owner occupier in the block that had access to the garden. Turned out this was a fib but it only came to light when the actual owner of their flat turfed them out because he'd got divorced and chucked out of his marital home and needed his old flat back. I have no idea how he managed to get them to leave on the short turnaround that saw them throwing belongings out of the windows and doing a flit overnight but that's not my business! Anyway, this 'patio' area was very much theirs even though it was supposed to be communal. She had her garden furniture on it and decorated it with pots and plants and hangy things in the bush you can see there on the right, and she spent any dry/sunny moments at her table, smoking and sunbathing with her two large dogs (enormous dogs) tethered close by because they were totally untrained and too badly behaved to be allowed off the leash. So we did have a garden but we never felt we could use it. It transpires that nobody else uses the garden either so as we have now felt obliged to cut the grass etc in her absence, I am plotting a takeover of the patio area similar to the one she achieved only minus the dopey dogs.

230407-Garden-James-Street-003 by Kath Polley, on Flickr Forsythia. The cracked wall you can see behind it belongs to the pub next door. Used to be La Scala - a cinema - when I was a child. Is now shrouded in mystery as nobody knows who owns it/is renting it and it has very sporadic opening hours. Generally considered to be a money-laundering front.

240415-Chimney-Pot-001 by Kath Polley, on Flickr 240415-Chimney-Pot-002 by Kath Polley, on Flickr Local plant sale and the now-separated terracotta pots (which it turns out I measured incorrectly - but hopefully the ivy etc will grow to cover) have plants in. I have a bulb to plant in the blue and white pot (found at the back of the garden under a bush a couple of weeks back) and then it will be time to actually do some proper gardening...weeding/mowing/rubbish clearing/cutting things back. The hard work that I don't much enjoy. I'm not even drinking any more so I can't sit back with a Gimms as a reward.

My garden is long & narrow, and rather cluttered so very rarely gets photographed. This IR view was taken from the back of the house. garage aerochrome small by Mike Kanssen, on Flickr The garden continues nearly as far again as the willow visible in the background.
