It's been a while... and it's got a bit jungly! The roses are unknown - the yellow one was growing at the house my Dad moved to in 1966, and where I subsequently grew up, it's savagely prickly, flowers the once for not very long, but good scent. The red one is from the house Mum grew up at, another shrub rose that takes no prisoners - flowers for rather longer. An invasive weed that I water because I like it... The native wolf spiders seem to like it too as loads of them live in it.

My triffid weeds by the back door. I've left them there to take up the water overspill from my neighbour's gutter. Worked well.. They must be 5ft tall now. ap weeds by Kate Ferris, on Flickr

It's some sort of bellflower they sell at garden centres if it doesn't appear of it's own accord. Native giant bellflowers that grow in the woods by the river are impressive too but only flower later in the summer and are big lanky things that tower over other flowers.

Dalmatian or Wall bellflower. Dalmatian I think. The other ones are trailing plants iirc. It started small but I'm happy to let it fill the area it is in as it makes weeding easier by taking over. C'mon the invasive species .

My little bellflowers on the pic were 50p each as they'd gone over. Flowered again in weeks and every year since. Bargain!

They look rather good steps too. I'm pleased, first thing I've ever made with mortar, bricks, slabs, etc.
