Went to a gig last night. You soon realise the limitations of a mobile phone (I could've got my little Fuji in without a problem though). Quite like how this one turned out though. Gary Numan Manchester 24/05/24 by Nigel G, on Flickr

I like the processing - gives it a very painterly feel even though it's mono.

I like the processing - gives it a very painterly feel even though it's mono. Thank you it was taken from the first floor beer garden as we waited for friends to arrive about a hour or so before it got dark. Obviously it was the sky that caught my interest but the sun had already gone off bridge and most of the buildings, it was a right pain to get something decent out of it in colour. The sky was reasonable just needed a bit of an exposure grad and a radial grad to take down the corners, the area in shade needed a different colour balance, more contrast, more saturation and more exposure except for the river which was slightly over exposed. Not happy with it I saved a colour copy and tried a mono conversion in Silver EFX that needed a lot of dodging in the mid tones of the bridge and buildings, which is what you see here and what I printed to 9 1/2 x 12" on glossy paper which looks great.

I always forget about Silver EFX even though it's on my PC. Really must try to remember its there....

Take with a Samsung S24 Ultra, handheld, recently in Split, Croatia I like that the door staff give it a slightly menacing edgy feel, in a good way.

A couple of contrasting pics from the last couple of days... Parking Changes by SteveH, on Flickr Loads of these - one on every other lampost, just about. Missing Person by SteveH, on Flickr Not so many of these. The council obviously has more money. And possibly a legal duty.

Another two for my long time light around the house set which I started in Lock Down. IMG_E8733e by Keith Hudson, on Flickr IMG_E8732E by Keith Hudson, on Flickr It is a bird feeder sat in our hall having been replaced in the garden by one that holds seeds.

The thing I find most useful about phone cameras is that you can take pictures of things you don't know the name of (the owner didn't either) to look up later on. Like this... Verbena by SteveH, on Flickr

As it turned out, I have hardly used my camera this past few days, just sticking with the ease of my iPhone. I took the first one with this months comp theme in mind. I have a version taken on camera which I’ll look at at home, so something similar may appear in that thread. Untitled by Nigel G, on Flickr Untitled by Nigel G, on Flickr
