Glad the helmet has done its job. Hope you don't have any delayed concussion type issues. Ditto Andy.

This morning, for the first time in many months, I was asleep at 8am. The phone rang and I assumed that it was about my sister (she was in the hands of the critical care team last night). It was a scam BT call!!
Usually my response is subtle, but this morning he got, as they say, both barrels.
I surprised myself at the fluency and vehemence of my tirade. I'm actually not proud of it but it was extremely satisfying!

Assisted dying. Much debate re the safeguards. Load of nonsense. Ever stood by when three worthy doctors sanction switching off life support? No consent there. Doctors kill their mistakes, no matter how you feel. Also I'm damned sure some hospice care includes an easy way out for you, when you are still alive, but dying. Let's face it we are all dying, just some slower (and quicker with intervention) than others.

Today we are being asked to allow the mentally competent, terminally ill, to request assistance to end their lives early. Next it might be a case of "you're terminally ill, you've got very little time we're going to end your life". Followed by "you're old, you're infirm can we end your life?" "You're old we're going to end your life". Ultimately "you're 35, times up"
Have you ever seen Logan's Run?

There was a case in Canada relatively recently where someone had been on a trolley in hospital for a rather long time waiting for a proper bed who felt that assisted dying was a better option. Others have been suggested it, much as you have written. In a humane, decent, society it's possibly a good idea to allow this choice, but we do not live in one.

Why do we need safeguards? Because of people like one of my work colleagues who says he can't wait for his in-laws to die as he thinks any inheritance he may get will set him up financially for the rest of his days. I'm hoping they leave everything to the cats home or they need round the clock care for many years and there's no money left.

Iām all for it in principle (strange maybe considering what I have been/still going through) I would hope if I am ever in a position to want to and need to end my life, I can do it in a way without having to travel abroad and put my wife in a position of getting prosecuted.

When I was twenty I though that assisted dying would be assisted by a rapid de acceleration, somehow I made it to almost sixty with out f ing up big time on a bike.

He really shouldn't rely on that, after Dave died his mum told me she would leave his half share in her will to me but never got round to it and the money involved would have seen me out comfortably but I never saw anything apart from a few grand she had always promised me for taking such good care of Dave. I could be bitter about it but I'm not...well not much

I spent a sizeable chunk of yesterday drinking low alcohol beer, as I was the driver.
This morning I have most of the classic symptoms of a hangover, bar the headache. That's just bizarre!

Very first world gear grind, mislaid the dongle for my Avid Media Composer. I've not used it for years, but my new phone does very good video. This software has cost me getting on for Ā£1500 over the years in various upgrades. And I need to find a good media converter as Sorenson Squeeze has gone belly up m

I rather think my brother might be expecting to inherit Mum's bungalow and plot of land. I don't think he's considered care fees, the likelihood of it being split, or willed to a charity, and he's certainly never thought of the fact that Mum inherited it under the 7 years thing, so the taxman will be *very* interested in it this time round.
