This should be in WGYG as well.
At last I've harvested the grass from what SWMBO is pleased to call a lawn. For various reasons I've shirked the job and it was on the verge of becoming impossible - at least with the tools that I own. I can now offer a large quantity of high quality grass for silage. No sensible offer refused!.
The gear grinding was because the grass was really too long and really too wet and so it kept clogging that little gap between the roller and the bar that does I know not what. Attacking with a wallpaper scraper worked but was quite strenuous. Even that has a good side because my GP exhorts me to take excercise on the basis of use it or lose it!

6 Hour stack Crop RL by David Swan, on Flickr It doesn't look much does it? Just a tiny bullseye, except the ring is light from a galaxy 10.5 billion light years away that is being lensed by the galaxy in the centre, a "mere" 5.3 billion light years away. It is just 10 arc seconds across and magnitude 20.3. My tiny mind is slightly boggled that I managed to image a gravitationally lensed galaxy with my amateur telescope from my semi-rural back garden.

The Purple Toothwort I found in the woods is proving to be something of a local tourist attraction, at least amongst the pensioners with dogs who are venturing off the paths to see it. 2 of them discovered they could get it online and are considering it for their gardens too.
And my friend whose husband died last year has been out on a date with a new fella.

A major step towards resuming "normal life"!
Hope it works out for her.
[Edit to add: or him, if appropriate, of course! ]

[Edit to add: or him, if appropriate, of course! ] About 5 minutes after chatting to her this morning I wondered if he was any good at decorating....would get me off the hook! (Not that I mind as I just offered to tile her bathroom)
