We've been spoilt this year. Even today, when all 3 games went the way expected, it was pretty damn decent. Now I just have the hangover to look forward to...

Apparently my mum was sitting next to Princess Anne yesterday afternoon but my dad was pitch-side as he was steering my auntie's wheelchair.

275 miles at an average speed of 62mph (vehicle computer). average mpg 53.8 (again vehicle computer so about 10% high) , all speed limits (more or less) obeyed, about 40 minutes saved by my satnav traffic function and no other drivers did anything silly.
In short nothing at all to moan about. Is that a record?

Haha! Funny you should say this. My PC mouse has been jumpy but picking out and shaking the fluff off seems to have solved it. I should have realised this was the issue much sooner. The fans on thing have been working so hard that it was almost impossible to hear anyone on a Teams call! Can you point me in the right direction for a vacuum for my PC? There seem to be many but I don't want to muck it up.

Managed a potter around at RSPB Conwy today. They have a new café which is very nice and there is water in the scrape that the café overlooks so the views are nice again. Didn't see much but we didn't go far and my eye is out, haven't been birding seriously since pre-Covid and am unlikely to see anything "subtle". I reckon this is a chiff chaff, rather greener and darker than I'd suspect but it is too early in the year for similar warblers* and it flew briefly up to [presumably] catch a fly and drop back down again, which is a reported behaviour. DSCF1691.jpg by Pete, on Flickr Very hidden in the reeds. i'm still getting the hang of using mirrorless (Fuji) rather than DLSR. Huge crop on 400 mm (effective 600 mm). Exif doesn't report distance to subject but I'd guess 15-20'. This made the day worthwhile although it is the only photo worth keeping! *the RSPB reference book had a picture of a garden warbler that looked very much like this but they are summer visitors. Edit: previous closest chiffchaff shot, also at Conwy, April 1st 2018 so similar time of year. More expected colour BV9R1153.jpg by Pete, on Flickr

I have a mac and teh computer part is a sort of black dustbin shaped thing with little vents at the bottom. So I just used my usual vacuum cleaner nozzle to hoover the dust out. I have no idea what would be the best option for a PC as I can't think where the vents would be. I imagine you could just try a feather duster to dislodge any visible dust though.

peterob, yon first pic I'd have thought Greenfinch, but I'm not that clued up on bird recognition.

Possibly the colour balance is fooled by the reeds - though they look about right - I'll have a little play - but it is a resident chiffchaff, just a pity it is not something more exotic!

Black legs, so it has to be a Chiff-Chaff.

Black legs, so it has to be a Chiff-Chaff. Yes and way oversaturated. This is a more realistic edit. I think I was influenced by the LCD on the camera under artificial light when looking at the bird id book in the RSPB office. Convinced myself that it was green and then fulfilled the delusion on the computer. The reeds are really pale at this time of year and it was overcast DSCF1691.jpg by Pete, on Flickr

It's also good to see you getting out and about as well Pete. Thank you. Slowly but surely. I can walk for up to an hour now before my concentration goes, which is very good progress really. Photographically I can't decide whether or not to get the 150-600 for the Fuji for birding. I think most of my "missed focus" pics with the Fuji and 100-400 (there are lots) is technique, mirrorless really is different to the DSLR. This [massive crop] was the first bird picture I took this year [feb 28th] on an early walk. Terrible photograph but a milestone of sorts to be cheerful about.
