I've never been close enough to notice You can always dream.... Zou rubbing his milk into Martins back. You're a sick man, Nige!

I've never been close enough to notice You can always dream.... Zou rubbing his milk into Martins back. I was going to say, "no, it's Martin's milk" but then I realised that was in no way a better scenario.

Had to see whether they had blurred me out. Is that a technical term, or just simply a euphemism?

Don't know whether this should be in here or WGMG thread. A couple of days ago, my wife and I were in John Lewis. I need some new cologne and my favourite brand is no longer selling in the UK, so I had an assistant help me with something similar. She was actually chewing gum which really annoyed me. She was showing me a brand that was quite pricey, but TBF the perfume smelled very good and I couldn't decide which out of 3 that I preferred. The gum chewing assistant said that a lot of people buy one, then end up coming back and buying other flavours for different days. She then added, that now you know which brand you like, your mum could buy you another one for a birthday or Christmas etc. As a joke, I said, indicating to my wife, that she wasn't my mum but my wife, not thinking for one minute that she actually thought Sarah was my mum. Her reply was "Oh sorry, I didn't realise" Now I am 58, Sarah is 56 and looks nowhere near 80 odd. On one hand I have had a right laugh out of it but she was really upset by the assistant. I think on the whole, because the situation was funny, it'll stay in this thread but it was a close thing. The whole experience wasn't very John Lewis though! We are off out to an Antique and salvage fair in about 1/2 an hour. I'll see what I can get for her.

Back when I earned a living (I quit when the Covid-19 lockdown started) I had a simple system of PC replacement - when the current work machine got a bit long in the tooth, I would replace it, and the old machine would be allocated to streaming duties in the evening. That worked well until the streamer started to overheat after an hour or so and kept crashing, and couldn't be fixed. The older old machine was brought back into service, but that could hardly cope with streaming FLAC over HDMI, so I had to revert to a lower quality USB D to A converter. This week, however, the streamer laptop screen started to play up - if it wasn't in exactly the right position, then it would just display a mass of horizontal lines, and the 'right' position became a moveable feast by the hour. I still have an old netbook, but that just wouldn't hack it, streaming-wise. Then I remembered one of my last software projects before C-19 was a mobile inventory system to run on Windows tablets, for which I bought a pretty decent Windows tablet as a testbed, complete with excellent streaming speed and HDMI-4. Hooked it up last night, and it's a revelation. I didn't realize how much the old system had deteriorated - it must have been dropping bits like a shedding cat. Not only do I now have my expected audio quality back, but I have also set up MS Remote Desktop on my Android tablet so I can control the Windows tablet from my chair, which means I can drink as much gin as I want as there is no longer any risk of falling over every night going to change the music - the real RTBC!
