My mac has been running incredibly slowly for the last few weeks, to the point where it was just about un-usable. I really didn't want to have to think about replacing it...but it turns out that just hoovering out the dust from the computer's vents at the bottom has solved the issue entirely!

Funny you should say this. My PC mouse has been jumpy but picking out and shaking the fluff off seems to have solved it.

The fans on thing have been working so hard that it was almost impossible to hear anyone on a Teams call!

Mum's old OM10 has just made 26 quid (minus whatever extortionate fees ebay is charging this week) for the Essex Air Ambulance. Not bad given that I described and illustrated its flaws. Why am I selling? I've got two and a parts one already. Three and a half would be greedy (says the man whose just bought two more box cameras). We had something on Ebay for sale (first time in a long time). It was on a buy it now for £150. It cost us £20.50 to sell the item. As they are no longer affiliated to PayPal, the money is paid by the buyer to e Bay and then into the sellers bank account. This was sold last week and EBay are holding our payment until 21/3. Good grief! I have the email telling me I've been paid, the small print days "up to 4 days before it arrives in my account", meanwhile its earning them interest... seems to be the way everything makes money these days by holding on to ours. Funking barstewards. Incidentally, @dorset Mike, your old Minolta made £7, not decided yet whether to add it to the air ambulance kitty or buy a roll of something unusual for one of your old folders.

Had to laugh. BBC on FB. Man finds big ugly diamond in US park. He described it as the size of an English pea. Must admit I wasn't aware USA peas were a different size. Probably bigger, I suppose. Ha! I was bored enough to look it up. English peas are peas that you remove from the pod before eating. As distinct from peas where you cook and eat the whole pod. These latter come in two types - where the peas inside are very small (to me that is mange-tout) and where the peas are large. These are known as snow peas and sugar snap peas respectively (unless I mixed the order up). Must be a popular topic in the USA, I just searched on types of pea and all the top hits were american companies selling vegetable seeds.

Did your extensive research reveal the Yanks' views on Mushie Peas?

Did your extensive research reveal the Yanks' views on Mushie Peas? Absolutely not. Mushy peas are a disgusting dish. I was however surprised to find that marrowfat peas (of which mushy peas are mushed) are the same variety as garden peas (English peas) - the only difference is that they are not picked "young" but the pods are allowed to ripen on the plants. So the only difference is the age of the pea. I like 'em young but not so young as petit-pois which are far too much effort to eat with a [correctly held] fork.

Agree 100%. I also love peas straight from the vine. My parents knew not many would be in the bowl if they sent me out to get some. I do remember when growing them myself up here, I had guests for lunch and did a posh salad with a bowl of freshly picked peas on the table. My Italian friend ate the whole thing, one after another. Ha!

Are they the same as the Cheshire 'round' pea? Asking for a friend.

I continue to have the same number of major European football trophies as Arsenal.

Mushy peas - something that didn't make it down here. You're not missing anything. Think snot, but with worse flavour and texture. I assume they are a hangover from when it was hard to get genuinely fresh peas if you didn't grow them yourself.

Ogden Nash and Spike Milligan had a better different idea.
“I eat my peas with honey/I've done it all my life/It makes the peas taste funny/but it keeps them on my knife.”
