The book I am currently working through (as opposed to the multitudinous things I will pick up and put down across the course of the day) contains this splendid line, which I have just reached: "The men have made a splendid repair job of the Giant's testicles with pegged down turf"
I'm sure the great minds of this forum will be able to guess the subject from that, I have a bet with myself on the likeliest successful guessees, if not necessarily the actual book, which is a bit niche.

It's not Gulliver's Travels...

No, and no. Though we only live about 20 miles away from Banbury, where Gulliver's Travels begins. I'm told there are still tombstones bearing the name in the churchyard, though not of an age that Swift would have seen.

Hmm - Lords and Ladies - Terry Pratchett. That's not a bad call, I've no doubt that the Cerne Abbas giant inspired TP.

Just stopped at a motorway service station in France. We were stood in a queue for croissants and coffee and the French woman in front of us said “ Allo, Allo” in her wonderful French accent to the cashier. Wife and I both started laughing. Luckily not loud or obvious enough for anyone to wonder why.

Does getting a referral to cardiology count? GP appointment revolved around 24 hour tape which was "inconclusive"...the outcome is a referral to cardiology and a request for a longer tape. As I've only seen a cardiologist a couple of times since heart attack in 2009 it could be a blue moon event...
