My current phone is the first that requires a slide to end a call. As I get 9and make) very few calls on it it still fools me occassionally.

I find Samsung products very good. It is the company that sucks. Whereas the 3 worst phones I've ever used were all Samsungs. Each to their own.

I started with Nokia, followed by Motorola, then I had a Sony Erikson, a Palm (smartphone) and then iPhones. The Palm and Sony I still have but Iām not sure why, I assume they still work.

What is it about them that pisses you off? I have had two, herself has had two and other than the usual makers bloatware and attempts to get you to "buy in" neither of us have had any problems with either. The new tablet is also a nice machine as is the freezer.

The first was pre smart phones, and was merely adequate as a phone, but had several major design flaws that made it unpleasant to use. The other two were work phones, Galaxy models, and in both instances they were/are poor as a telephone, frequently dropping calls, weak WiFi connections, notifications come in some cases hours after the thing triggering the notification has been read. One UI is an absolute shitshow, and the way in which the updates will restart your phone even mid-call is infuriating. Real Android works so much better in every regard. On my own phone (Motorola) if I want to switch it off I long press the power button and press on screen to turn off, 2 touches. It's not possible to turn off my work phone in less than 7 touches. Worst keyboard I've used on any phone ever. The screen is softer than a rotten peach and chipped within days just from being next to something in a bag/pocket. Slippery design but doesn't come with even a basic case. Didn't even come with a charger, just a USB-C cable. If I set my mind to it I'd probably be able to write out much more too.

Not had any of these issues other than lack of charger withe current phone but having a charger from the previous one I regard that as a(n environmental) positive.

A strange follow on from my last WGYG
Tonight I got a letter from British Gas so in the last week, they've agreed the Ā£1510 they claimed I owed them was really Ā£64.47 then billed me for Ā£384.85 and tonight.....
Apparently I asked for my credit balance to be refunded (even though at no point did they say I had a credit balance nor did I ask for it to be refunded mostly because I didn't know I was in credit more the opposite!) so they enclosed a cheque for Ā£311.02
THAT is going in the bank just as soon as I can get to one (or successfully photograph it in bank app) before they change their minds!

Very glad that I'm no longer with that shit-show, though I do still have a few shares from long ago. Oil for heating and getting a quote for solar PV.

We met a family (mum, dad, girl about 10, boy about 8 ) at Arne today. Clearly not wildlife spotters in any sense of the description. we took the time to talk to them about what they had seen and may see, a lend of our binoculars etc. caught up with them later to find they'd seen and photographed the Uk's two rarest reptiles, a smooth snake and a sand lizard. I reckon we have converts to nature watching community.

Morrison's have their mince pies in. It's not yet September for heaven's sake! But I'm not complaining, I like mince pies š
