No oscopies for me today. Pulse measured (by hand - they thought the machine was faulty) at 40! There's a risk so they call the procedures off, and start to organise a CT scan as an alternative. I also had an ECG which no doubt was reported to cardiology. CT arranged for Monday morning. No doubt cardiology will be watching with interest. So a sleepless night for nothing! So I've been thinking (dangerous I know) I've been off the iron tablets for a week (as advised by the Endoscopy department) so would that be the cause of the bradycardia?

A slightly bittersweet RTBC this morning. Our swift box is empty. The babies we've spent so much time watching are, presumably, wheeling and screaming as they dance the skies on laughter silvered wings.
I'm delighted for them, but it has left a hole. I guess this must be what it's like when the kids leave home.

The sore foot which was almost certainly gout has cleared up remarkably quickly with only some residual tenderness remaining. Thanks again to Martin for the suggestion that it could be gout, as a result I treated it properly right away and, importantly, did not put on the pressure bandage that I had been planning on.

Any idea what triggered it? For me it's Branston baked beans or tomato ketchup.

Any idea what triggered it? For me it's Branston baked beans or tomato ketchup. Not really. I have a tendency to not hydrate enough which no doubt contributed. While it would not cause it (but might have been the final straw) I had been wearing an old pair of shoes I had not worn for years and were probably a bit tight - the problem was with the foot that was wearing the shoe without the hole in it. They have gone out. My pal Dave can have it set off by tomatoes but only when he overdoses on them (he grows them). I normally eat at least two cherry tomatoes a day but cut down during the attack. Ice gel packs*, sandals, rest, pain killers, plenty of water and no added sugar blackcurrent juice plus a pillow under the foot at night to keep the inflamed joint off the mattress seemed to do the biz.
* By this time I had been hoping for jet packs but there you go.

I'm rather enjoying 'Fox-watch'.

I'm rather enjoying 'Fox-watch'. The stretch was both yoga like and ladylike. The scratch was neither. She may have just gone into the bushes for an unladylike crap because she was back kipping in her favourite spot later and left at the back of 9. She did not seem impressed when maggie waved at her - yes we are both as daft as each other.
