I'm happy but sh**ting bricks at the same time. I'm going to a gig on Saturday and a friend is a friend of the band so he had a word and......I've got permission to shoot (photos obviously). Used to do a lot of gig work but it's been so long I'm now trying to remember how to do it! Doesn't help my D7000 for some reason won't let me use AP but stays in auto for some reason

The full factory reset won't be possible (according to a quick google) in the time frame, but the two button one (look it up on youtube or other places) is possible. It may help.

a) Maggy bought me the latest Sean Shibe CD (Profesion - with an accent over the second o) of the music of Barrios, Villa-Lobos and Ginastera. b) She bought it from Sean's dad at the Meadows Pottery and that version includes a bonus track namely the Villa-Lobos Prelude No. 3 which does not appear on the version available on Amazon. Very pleased indeed with the entire CD but the performance of the Prelude No. 3 is a particular revelation. It was dedicated to J.S Bach. I have several recordings of it and have played it myself on and off for over 40 years but have never heard any Bach in it at all until this recording. Django Rheinhardt yes, Bach no.

Thanks I'll give it a try, it's really odd though the camera seems to work perfectly well I can change the ISO, white balance etc but when I put a lens on it, the lens doesn't work I hear the focus motor making a faint whining noise for a few seconds but then the shutter button is locked up. Looks like the AF may have failed but it still won't work in manual I'm coming into a modest legacy in a few weeks time (reminds me I must do the scans for the solicitor to prove my ID), it's not very much (The reasons for that are a MAJOR WGYG) but if worse comes to worse I've seen a D7000 secondhand with 3,111 shots in mgb (is that the right place and are they any good?) for £179 and I am perfectly happy with the D7000 so I may just have to bite the bullet and get a new one

Yesterday was the Summer Solstice so now I can look forward to longer nights, although I don't get Astronomical Dark until the 16th July on the Dorset coast.

Watching the solstice moon rise over Eryri. Just looked out the window at the right moment to see the rim appear from behind the hills. Might even have some pics, though through glass.

JML TV adverts, a guaranteed mood lifter. Never in the history of the world has anyone said "I wish I had a shovel that doubled as a saw, root cutter, and a pry bar", apart from a buyer at JML. The Rayzer shovel root saw should come in handy for the zombie apocalypse though.

All else failing you could try taking your current combo along to the shop and tell them you do not know what you want to buy but you definitly want something.
