The car's SOS back up battery. The (2nd) replacement battery eventually arrived from Lithuania on Saturday - apt place to source an Li battery. Fitted it Saturday afternoon and cleared the error code. Error code has still not returned so hopefully that will be that.

He's quoted as saying "In short, it was a highly intimidating and very lonely experience in a very strange country."
Not a pleasant experience, then? Perhaps he (and all the other baying Tories who support the Rwanda policy) should spare a little empathy for those arriving in small boats.

Welcome back! Sometimes even Tories are >>this<< close to grasping it, aren't they?

Yes - maybe. In the case of the current crop, however, I suspect that the saying " a miss is as good as a mile" will be appropriate.

The mother-out-law has unearthed her camera bag and decided that she will not use its contents again. I know there is a Centon (Chinese Minolta clone) SLR in there but apparently there are two other cameras, which I am intrigued by as I only ever saw the Centon. But there is definitely a Tamron 90mm macro in there! It will work on my Nikons with an Adaptall-2, so I am a happy bunny. I've lusted after that lens for 20+ years.

I've had mine for over 20 years, bought it when I was still using a Mainolta SLR, now still use it with my Moinolta DSLR, so mst be over 20 years, very satisfied.

I noticed that my last order was dispatched from somewhere in SE England, I can't remember the exact location but suspect it is a way of getting around import duty.
I hope the SOS phone is now happy though I do wonder what will happen to them when the 3G network is turned off.

I believe BMW production from late 2017 onwards have 4G which is compatible with 5G apart from the speed.

I believe BMW production from late 2017 onwards have 4G which is compatible with 5G apart from the speed. Correct but it will be interesting to see what happens with pre-2017 models. I do not expect BMW to give a crap. Given my history of car ownership may be relevant to me for when 4g is switched off which may well be before the new back up battery expires.

I would imagine that pre 2017 will have to get a new head unit to go 4/5g as that is where the sim is. Best done by a reputable independent. Mine went on my old F11 and bmw estimated 1000 for the unit and 100 for fitting. Got an exchange unit fitted by an independent for 400, as far as I'm aware it's still going strong.

Or get someone to disable the error code permanently. I see it as a vanity/paranoia system which is unlikely to benefit 99.99999 of the owners
