I think it is pretty big, big enough for vast in the 19th century. Although stone was taken from this site, to build Princetown and Dartmoor prison, before the quarry proper opened in 1820, it still amazes me what man can do by means of manual labour. Thanks to Kate for reminding me of starscapes, in this one I cram in a tree, shooting star & lightning as well as stars shooting star + lightning by Mike Kanssen, on Flickr For those who obsess about shots being level, that just lost too much here, and the shot was taken without the benefit of a tripod (just with the camera resting on a table).
