There are quite a few UK TV programmes with people interfering in murder enquiries - Catholic priest, private detectives, Indian caterers and so on.
Could any retired/serving members of the fuzz who happen to be members here explain what would actually happen to them if they did so? I suspect it wouldn't be something good.

I want to know where all the black and Asian people come from in Midsomer Murders. There certainly isn't that level of ethnic diversity round here.

Interesting, but that seems to cover influencing the results of case, rather than interfering to try and 'solve' a case. |

You should have been more specific about the reason for interfering. In any case the motive is probably of lesser importance than the effect.

I want to know where all the black and Asian people come from in Midsomer Murders. There certainly isn't that level of ethnic diversity round here. I'd say there were plenty of them in Oxfordshire, but most of them are in Oxford, the villages are still pretty WASP. |

Our village is almost all Wasp as well. I do have acquaintances from the Sikh and Hindu Nottingham communities and they seem to be nice people. I taught Jains amongst other minorities many years ago; they were nice people as well.

Having been born and raised in inner city Nottingham, I have mixed with many people of different races and religions, the vast majority of them are nice people. |

Didn't some producer lose his job a while back because of the lack of diversity at the time?

Also, my mother refused to watch Eastenders, not because it was a pile of depressing shite, but because it had too many ethnic minorities in (those are my words, not hers - I won't repeat hers here). She said it wasn't that she had anything against 'them', but that the programme wasn't representative of the actual mix and they'd 'gone too far'. I tried pointing out that the 'actual mix' in East London might not be the same as in a fairly well to do village on the west coast of Scotland but she wasn't having it. I think she genuinely believed that every 2,000 strong community in the UK had one brown family and a man that had married a Thai bride. |
