It's probably in better shape than either of my EOS lenses. Possibly... although it has been several years since the rest of my Canon gear went, and the fungus on the remaining lens hasn't got any better.

Thanks spinno . Might get a chance to give it a wee go later this afternoon and see what happens. Looks a bit different to my trusty old 7D. I wonder if any eagle-eyed viewers can tell which one I've been crawling about in the woods with for the last 14.5 years?

It's set to go but you might have adjust the white balance as the sun shines a lot brighter down south...😎😎😁

It's set to go but you might have adjust the white balance as the sun shines a lot brighter down south...😎😎😁 Sods law it clouded over and I'm guessing that makes for flat IR pictures? Get the occasional moment of sun so I might get lucky but either way it's somewhere to start. With my colour camera I usually mess with RAWs in DPP and then TIFFs in PS so will see how that goes.

Get the occasional moment of sun so I might get lucky but either way it's somewhere to start. I generally find it clouds over if I have a IR converted body handy. But I did manage some shots last week. You can use other light sources than the sun I have some IR LED devices & most flash units give out loads of IR. I've even seen some IR landscapes shot by moonlight (cloud doesn't help with that either). See snappers-social-club.proboards.com/thread/953/ir-sunProbably not the sort of IR shooting you were planning on though.

Did you see the photos I posted a while ago (on Facebook) of "Hell's Lane" in infrared? They were taken on a grey cloudy day in February! The lack of light gives a great ghostly ethereal effect to the photographs, I've just made an exhibition post with a few of them: snappers-social-club.proboards.com/thread/954/hells-laneWith my colour camera I usually mess with RAWs in DPP and then TIFFs in PS so will see how that goes. Do you use Lightroom? If so, you can make infrared profile for the camera which you can use as a starting point in Lightroom. I've got this video bookmarked which I think is the one I followed to build a profile for my infrared cameras:

Thanks petrochemist and Fenris . Good to know trying it with flash isn't necessarily a daft idea. Don't have lightroom though...tried it when it was new and didn't like it so am still using an ancient version of PS. Nearest normal lens to hand was a 50mm so I took that out for a play on my 6th hour of walking today. Straight conversions to TIFF with auto-levels on PS. Hopefully with a bit of practice in more consistent light I'll get the hang of exposures with it.
