Going for it.  

I was intending to pick a picture up from this year but Flickr search return order is a bit of a mystery and this (2018) looks like they are trying. It is the last bend before the closing straight so the position they come out of it is important.

From this year.  I only kept three frames and I only lasted two starts. I think I had the intent of trying to get some muddy faces but, despite the rain we have had, the course looked quite firm.  I find the "races" quite boring and the appeal of waiting 30 mins for a couple of seconds of photographic opportunity has worn off.  There is only one vantage point really from outside the course and it is better than the on-course opportunities because it has some height.  Taking pictures at the inner fence is a hiding to nowhere.  There are two inside fences - the rails the horses run at and then a gap for service vehicles and then the inner fence to keep spectators at bay.
