There is a lot here that doesn't fit the how a photo should work, any thoughts?

For me I'd try to get square so that both main subjects are in focus and include the top of the grass stem. Colours are delightful.

Building on Pete's comment I'd say that either both subjects need to be in focus or one needs to be significantly out of focus. Also my reaction to the stem on the right was 'Pity the top's missing'... Problem is it looks accidental rather than, as I suspect, deliberate. Colours are great though.

I suppose it is accidental in that I didn't see it when I took the photo, but was happy with it because it felt like it showed the nature of the field a bit. But I get that it can look like I missed something, which I did π And I totally get the point about not being in focus.
