Can anybody tell me what this creature is? I can see it's not an infant grasshopper, but that's the limit of my knowledge.
My wife found it on her finger after running her hand through some long grass in a meadow, and it only moved off when she put her hand back in the grass. The image isn't perfectly sharp, having been hastily taken with the Sigma 17-70 (at 70 mm) lens I had on my camera body at the time. This is a crop from the original image, and has not been resized.

I did some searching and the closest looking I could find is Megaloceroea recticornis.

Total ignorance on my part - I tried "long thin green beetle", then "long thin green bug" and was lucky with the second.

A little late but I remembered a (fisheye) close up of my Dad, that would have been appropriate for Father's day in the face by Mike Kanssen, on Flickr He's no longer with us so being late seems appropriate too.

It is staying still and it is alive and it is beautiful. Closest that I'm going to get to still-life. DSCF4555.jpg by Pete, on Flickr

I'm another who doesn't have much in the way of traditional still life shots. I think this one of a statuette in front of a false background might fit Malay Dragon by Mike Kanssen, on Flickr
