I was looking for something for tomorrow's daily theme "close-up" and I came across the images from last July (these are in same album but from August) when I was playing with a ring-flash on a macro-lens. Cosmos in the rain (through the window) at F 5.0 followed by the window itself. The Cosmos was in a plant pot - maybe 18" from the window. From last Thursday - wide open at F8 - but it is a 600 mm lens (long end of zoom) DSCF7848.jpg by Pete, on Flickr and singing as already posted elsewhere. DSCF7851.jpg by Pete, on Flickr Modern optics are rather good. Shame this lens does not return focus distance, but it was at the top of a tree.

from June 21st, 2024 ... Blues Night at the Winnipeg Jazz Festival ... the guitarist, Brent Parkin, is a Canadian blues legend from Winnipeg ... the last time(s) I took snaps of him, he was playing with Otis Rush and Bo Diddley in the 1986-87 era ... Cheers, Jack

Taken at full aperture (F4.5) the other day when looking at trees/shade DSCF7915.jpg by Pete, on Flickr Fiddled in Lightroom briefly - just for fun - using select subject mask, invert and reducing exposure but compensating a bit by increasing whites. I was surprised how little of the picture it judged to be in focus - basically the main cow-parsley floret. DSCF7915.jpg by Pete, on Flickr
