My wife surprised me today by saying she fancied a trip to Valencia. I'm aware of the museum/event hall with the fancy buildings, the Mestella stadium, and apparently the holy grail is in the cathedral. Any other must-sees? dreampolice I'm hoping you have some intel to share.

You know something, despite my having a place in the Region of Valencia , and having driven by it countless times on the motorway, I have never been. We have been saying we should go since 2005!!
It is only 2 hours or so away and we could even get a train. One day..

I think it's only Ryanair that flies from here to there, wondering whether it's worth flying to one of the resorty places further south and getting a train. Just for variety.

As most places I think about going to involve taking lots of photographs, I tend to look at Flickr to see what other people have found interesting and worth recording.

Next airport down is Alicante. That airport is quite a way from the city of Alicante itself. the airport does not have a direct train connection, only buses and taxis. Alicante is a nice city too. It is the airport for folk travelling on to Benidorm, so some of the flights into Alicante can be fairly fecking horrible TBH!

Ryanair and EasyJet are favorites for Valencia, the airport is probably 4 miles out of town. If you went Ryanair make sure its not to Castellon which is about 60 miles plus. Valencia is a great place, Museums, galleries, cathedrals, parks, science centres and beaches, great food, allegedly the home of the Paella although I prefer Catalan versions. Haven't flown there myself as we went by ferry to Santander and drove down.
