I usually have a mug of tea with my dinner. Wine / beer is kept for the weekend.

Drinks? Suggestions please.
Do you like Guinness, Kate? If you're avoiding alcohol, there's Guinness 0.0 - which has zero alcohol, and carbs are 3.8g per 100ml.
I'm certainly not a Guinness afficionado, but to me, it tastes just like 'real' Guinness... and I've never yet said that about any other no-alcohol drink. Just a thought.

You're not planning on visiting The Emerald Isle then?
Or, if you are, you're (presumably) travelling in cognito.

Best way to drink Guiness is half and half Guiness and Scrumpy - AKA black velvet

Best way to drink Guiness is half and half Guiness and Scrumpy - AKA black velvet Cheaper than a real black velvet anyway - and less wasteful.

Or, if you are, you're (presumably) travelling in cognito. Would love to, but aside from Guinness being the alcoholic equivalent to Coca Cola (visually black with frothy head, everywhere, too sweet) the Guinness company collaborated with the British to help squash the Easter rising, so it would be against my principles to specifically order it.

I do quite like some of the low alcohol lagers. I think my favourite so far has been Asahi but I also quite like both Lidl and Aldi's Pilsner offerings. The other thing I've enjoyed has been non-alcoholic gins - the one from Tanqueray was particularly decent. I've been looking at this site for more ideas too: drydrinker.com/products/asahi-super-dry-0-0-abv?variant=44007224967406(They say they deliver to the Highlands and Islands - for a fee!)

I didn't know that. Makes me wonder why all the Irish people I've ever encountered are so proud of it.

I just drink water, stop buying the wine that way you won’t drink it Simples. Curry and rice or pasta with even just a sauce would work for me

I haven't. And I'm guessing your post isn't a recommendation for these?

When I first moved to Edinburgh as a student there were still loads of pubs tied to the now defunct Edinburgh Usher's brewery which even managed to completely screw up its Norseman Lager. Having a taste for Guiness was a necessity for survival.
