Alongside the new S9 and lenses, Panasonic have announced a new app. Looks like it will take over from the frankly awful Lumix Snyc app, but do a lot more besides.
It's been fairly routine to be able to customise picture styles/profiles/'recipes' etc. in camera but what this app does is allow you far more control over the image/video colour, and import those settings back into the camera so you can shoot with them. The goal is to make it easier than ever to go from camera to output in as few steps as possible. As well as 'presets' you can also do proper LUTs, so you can shoot in log formats and apply the grading in camera/real time, instead of having to transfer to a computer first. Potentially ground breaking colour control, and very exciting.

I never alter my images other than crop. So it won’t be on my list of must have items. Life’s too short to spend time altering photos that are just as natural as can be. Quite often my wife will say “that’s been so photoshopped “ especially headshots in magazines or newspapers. The best version of a photo is the first one, as soon as you touch it you spoil it.
I know I’m in a minority but to me we are fooled into spending our money on the likes of Photoshop by marketing

Look…..think…..compose……press button! That’s old school, of course but it’s stood so many of us in good stead. Take care, Mike

Right, the topic is a *free* app, which as well as transferring images from camera to phone, allows image editing and you can create profiles to send back to the camera so you get the look you want in camera. So *free* and improves SOOC results.
And as for Lightroom, it's cost me a lot less than £1/month as I've had it about 10 years and spent about £80 on it if I recall correctly.

I've never bought any photo editing software, I first got Picture publisher with my first scanner back in the early '90s; upgrades appeared on mgazine freebies until V10 about 2002/3 when Micrografx sold to Corel, since then no further upgrades but V10 is still available as a free download. It does all I need,so why spend money on anything else.

Zou I have always maintained that “Life is too short to learn Photoshop “ I even had it as my bio for a few years. If a photo needs attention I delete it. With digital photos they are virtually free and I’m never going back to film. I had copy of Lightroom on my laptop which I haven’t used in 8 plus years since I got my iPad, but I never used anything Lightroom or any other software. I don’t enjoy the process so I’m never going to do it. My time is better spent elsewhere.
