Stop the world. I want to get off!
Hillsborough, Post Office, Blood. All incidents caused/managed and lied about by people one ought to be able to trust.
What the devil is happening to us?

We've been duped into trusting people we should never have trusted.

We've been duped into trusting people we should never have trusted. It's always happened, definitely nothing new. Thalidomide, Profumo, Edward & Mrs Simpson, the list is almost endless, our betters and "masters" have always known better than us, but have never behaved better.

You do not get to the top of the planetary food chain by being a nice species.

So what have we got stored up for the future? I'm sure there's plenty of stuff tucked away that they hope gets wiped from the computer memory.
...Mind you, wasn't it Herr Thatcher who declared 'There's no such thing as society'?

I agree of course but are your examples the same as mine? Mine were large scale "institutional lying". Whole organisations involved. Yours were individual issues in the main. Thalidomide being the exception but, maybe I'm wrong, I don't remember whole institutions lying.
I get and can deal with individuals. It's the thought of whole organisations duping us, not making mistakes or causing accidents, but deliberately and knowingly lying to us.

I had predicted that Thatcher would raise her head, but never imagined that it would be so quick!!

Lots of organisations exist purely for the purpose of greenwashing products these days.

Hillsborough-1989, infected blood-1970s onwards, post office scandal-1999,...
These aren't new scandals, they go back decades. Certainly in my lifetime politicians and senior public officials haven't been trustworthy. The old school tie should be used as a hangman's noose.

I seem to remember a few decades ago when a dam burst in Italy killing loads the authorities arrested and remanded in custody the directors of the building company first and then started asking questions.

Didn't they do that when a bridge collapsed on a main road? In this country we have Corporate Manslaughter but I don't recall anyone being prosecuted.
