We;ve had Spoonerisms and Malapropisms, how about euphemisms?
A couple of my favourites
"Made me eyeballs leak"
"Not the sharpest pencil in the box"

There was an internet article by a GP some time ago.He had counted 70 words used by patients who would not say breast.

Can we do a thread on dysphemisms please? Now having looked up its meaning whilst trying to find a euphemism worthy of the esteemed minds of the masses of this board, dysphemisms seem much more fun. Or more up my street in euphemism terms or should that be euphemistically speaking? Because we could chew this over for while or until the cows come home! I’m sure some bright spark out there will pull something out of the ether and kick this debate a bit further Down the road.
Still let’s get back to the subject in hand and get scratching your noggins to find owt worth talking about coz me teas getting cold with all this fiddle farting around.

My wife and I recently watched an episode of Endeavour (the younger Morse) in which Morse, Thursday and Strange are discussing the physical attributes of a flasher who has been active on a local canal towpath. The euphemisms used by Strange and Thursday reduced my wife to giggles and tears of laughter, so I quickly played the scene again from the DVD and we then had to pause for a few minutes whilst she recovered. |

Don’t you just hate it when that happens the last time I did it I’d just got a new job and was on a training course. I don’t know if many others understood the joke which made it even funnier hence more laughter 🤭 |
