With Julie doing 2 mornings a week of rehab at Salisbury hospital I find myself with some time to spare. Not enough to go seeking out some wildlife, but enough to do something. John Constable was known for painting Salisbury Cathedral, so I've decided to photograph the cathedral from various angles. My first 2 shots are from the roof levels of the 2 main multi-story car parks, but I think I've identified where Constable painted 'Salisbury Cathedral from the Meadow', so my next attempt will be to try and match his view. I was in Dedham on Friday, I took a few shots at the spot where the Hay Wain was painted, and I just processed them today funnily enough

I take it that Constable didn't paint the cathedral from one of the multi-storey car parks......

I take it that Constable didn't paint the cathedral from one of the multi-storey car parks...... The Maltings car park might have been there long enough. My suspicion as to where he painted '... from the meadow' seems to be correct. Just need to take a chainsaw next time I visit.

There is a Time Team episode where Stewart Ainsworth worked out where Constable painted the cathedral.

There is a Time Team episode where Stewart Ainsworth worked out where Constable painted the cathedral. Constable painted the cathedral from several angles. That view was from the Bishop's Ground and is not publicly accessible, being either in someone's garden or the grounds of Bishop's Wordsworth school.

If he was a Constable he could have obtained a warrant...

Even before you mentioned a chainsaw I briefly thought along the same lines. You wouldn't get away with it near the centre of Salisbury. Its good to see it without Scaffold.
