I have not used my 300mm / 2x converter combination for years and years, looking back it did work quite well with the EOS 5D mk1. 'Ger Orf My Land' by Keith Hudson, on Flickr And a more unusual use for the above, macro shots of flying insects. Hover Fly on 300mm f4 by Keith Hudson, on Flickr ^^^ Nice thorax, shame about the wings.

Almost as long, my EF180 macro and 2x converter. Look No Wings by Keith Hudson, on Flickr Wot, still no wings. Shortly after that I got fed up with insects and macro in general and sold the EF180 which I sort of regret.
Too many similar shots of hover flies, I had to re check the exif to make sure they were different lenses.

Other than pictures of windows or other forms of glass that show what it is, all I can think of is pictures taken through glass which demonstrate transparency in that there is no obvious intervention. I think my "best" and certainly favourite picture is of the sparrow hawk that perched on the fence near the kitchen. it could only be seen an oblique angle through the window, more than 45 degrees from the normal, and at some distance because the sink and draining board and cupboard are in the way. The window is double glazed and it is not unusual to see double images with oblique views through double glazing it but this is clear. Whenever I read of folk worrying about the deleterious effects of screw-on filters on their images I think of this. DSCF5350.jpg by Pete, on Flickr

The wings are wonderfully transparent and veined. How nature can be so detailed at such a small scale is fascinating DSCH5706-01 by Stephen Hayto, on Flickr

Through the widows This was taken during the epidemic. The placing of the social distancing stickers on the pavement makes me laugh. Have a feeling whoever stuck them on has a wierd sense of humour Night Exposure DSCG1785 by Stephen Hayto, on Flickr
