Re Island status. When I was a kid, I used to wonder why we didn't float off somewhere if we were a separate floating island. Then I figured we were all joined up under the sea and not separate at all, just bits showing and other bits under the sea. I wanted to figure things out even as a toddler. I blame my dad and all the wonderful maps he had that I pored over.
