I bought this online last night. It looks like the 11th variation of the first model, produced in 1946 - but it has that screw to the left of the lens mount, suggesting a self timer. No Praktiflexes had self timers...The lens is 10 years younger than the camera, and was usually seen in M42 and Exakta mount, but the 1st model Praktiflex had an M40 mount, with a shorter flange to film distance than M42. The mount may have been changed.

The Praktiflex arrived. I've given it a clean, but it needs more. The shutter works, and the mirror is clean, although some lubrication is needed. I wonder if the screw beside the mirror housing and the one above on the top cover, in front of the shutter release button, were for a flash synchroniser? The camera has an M42 mount, rather than its original M40. The former owner obviously wished to use different lenses on it, and M40 lenses are rare.

NZ seems to be a hotbed of early 35mm SLRs, or it just your eye for them?

Taking off the film gate gives access to the shutter. This is a pressing, and it forms the sides of the film chambers. The right hand end slips under a tab on the body casting, the left hand is held down by screws (not seen here). One of the screws had to be drilled out. The shutter - the same layout as later Prakticas. The curtains are in excellent condition - they may have been replaced at some stage. I have flushed out and oiled the shaft bearings, and the shutter is working well. I moved on to the viewfinder, which is filthy. Unfortunately, I have 3 more rusted in screws impeding access. These have been doused in oil, and I'll try them again in a few days.
