Another reason why Scotland is better than England...up here you can call their bluff, ignore them, and bet on them not spending much money to go through court to tarnish your credit rating.
I've had 2 such "fines" and just ignored them. One was from the forestry commission on a roasting hot day where I parked next to a pond miles away from a ticket machine for the benefit of dogs and where locals have been parking for free for decades. The other was for being 7 seconds over the Euro Car Parks 3 hour time limit in the car park for the local precinct.
They wasted money buying data off the DVLA and sending letters.

£2.50 a pop (last time I checked) plus postage, it all adds up.

Ok folks now I need your opinion.
I've measured the type on the signs and,as near as I can make out it's 26 point (in word). Each small letter is a whisker under 5mm
So we have 5mm letters about 12 feet above the ground, illuminated by ambient light and it's 1am - dark but the very high level car park lights are on. . The writing has to be legible to anyone using the car park - ie. anyone who meets the legal eyesight rules to be driving. As an 80+ spectacles wearer I can't read the sign unless I leave the car and walk up to it.
Am I being unreasonable in arguing that the signs are not sufficiently legible?
Mick
PS Even if you say that I am unreasonable, I'm still going ahead. It's fun and I might just pull it off!!!

I don't think you are being unreasonable... supposing it had been pouring with rain or snowing, how easy would it have been to read the sign then ?

In fact I reckon you'd have to get out of your car with a torch to read it , in which case your in a breech as you are then parked up , rather than just in a stationary car waiting to drive off . Arguably the sign should clearly state "no parking between midnight and 6am" or whatever, as roadsigns at the side of the road with parking restrictions show . I'd definitely argue with them . How are you getting on with it ?

Consider contacting trading standards, a sign can’t meet the requirements if it can’t be read.

I just ignored the last one Heather received after one reminder they gave up, it was in a super market car park and yes she had overstayed their parking limit but I think the ‘enforcers just want easy life and rolled over rather than dragging a big name store into court

I just had a letter asking for more details. Now they have another 35 days to reply!
