It's nice there, a family favourite for us, a long way from Scotland though. A little while back we were watching an episode of Silent Witness and they went to Duxford. Mr Kath piped up that he'd love to go there to see the Blackbird and the B52 and I told him that having spent much of my formative years in villages around Cambridge it had been a go-to day out for us and I knew it well. We both agreed that it would be nice to do it 'some time' and left it at that. A week or so later, after having booked his two weeks of annual leave for Easter, my husband was asked by his line manager if he could come in on the Tuesday to let some engineers into the building and stay until they were done to lock up. When he said he couldn't, his line manager said "Well why not?" to which he replied that he was going to Duxford and would be in Cambridge. He came home that night and told me we had to go to Duxford. So we did! Haha, brilliant story!

One of those did a low turn over our house back in the early '80s. It all went dark and everything shook. It was doing a flight display for an airshow. I don't remember seeing it again. I guess there were complaints. It was quite scary, I thought the house was coming down and the reason the sky (seen through the windows) had disappeared wasn't immediately obvious.

Yes Vulcan, I actually worked on XH588 and others at RAF Waddington, as for the noise level I remember a display at RNAS Culdrose when XH588 roared across the field and set off a load of car alarms.

And another pretty one. ap close up drain cover by Kate Ferris, on Flickr It is probably a sewer entry point. We opened one of these while trying to trace a blocked drain and were surprised to find the top of a ladder. It was a very deep hole. Probably why the cover is in two thick halves.

It was close to the kitchen area of the Museum at the castle. I don't remember it being very large though, but possibly big enough if you were quite little and slim.
