I have been struggling to come up with a theme after several came to mind. One, it is very difficult to think of something that hasn't been done before on these forums and two, these threads aren't as populated as they used to be for one reason or another so I didn't want anything too challenging/restrictive. So for this month I am going for Geometric shapes. Apologies if I or someone else has done it before. These can be made of anything. Lines, circles, squares, triangles, etc, including abstract, as long as the shape is a strong focal point of the image and hopefully one of the reasons why the shot was taken in the first place ( Not just a street shot that happens to have a round street sign somewhere in it for example). I obviously suspect that there will be a lot of buildings and bridges which is cool but clearly light can also be used for the effect. A couple of examples of ones that I have taken purely for the geometric shapes. You will have seen them before. angles by Nigel G, on Flickr Triangle Reflection by Nigel G, on Flickr Diamond by Nigel G, on Flickr Lamp in The Light by Nigel G, on Flickr

I don't think it has been done before. Interesting. I think I do look for shapes in composition even if not consciously. I'm fairly certain that I have not labelled any picture on the basis of its shape or included mention of the shape in the keywording. Lightroom library just happened to be open with the thumbnail of this in view. I've taken lots of pictures of this folly (always hoping the next will be better) which I find a challenge but I do like the strong shape of the fish pond even if getting a double symmetry is the draw. I'll have to look up where this was, no Exif on Flickr for APforum posts, used in March 2022 (Edit: it is Liege) IMG_0195.jpg by Pete, on Flickr

The Tin Swan A sculpture made of sheet stainless folded like origami. It's quite clever, I like it although many of the locals think it was a complete waste of money Tin Swan by Stephen Hayto, on Flickr

As a thumbnail this looks like a sphere but in full it isn't a pure geometric shape, although with geometric elements, I quite like it. It was put in Flickr on July 5th 2023 in the album I use for this site - maybe we had a "high-key" theme last year? It has been processed so that the histogram is all to the right. Photo again from Liege and like the two others, taken in August 2012. IMG_0175.jpg by Pete, on Flickr
