There seems to be a constant cycle of road works these days, patching up potholes. In many cases round here (country lanes) the repairs fail in just the same way as the previous surface within a couple of weeks. Sometimes it's the very edge of the road which is clearly not up to the busses that travel along it & have to pull to the edge to left other traffic come the other way. Other times poor preparation means the new surface just comes off leaving a hole now deeper than the original and just an inch or two bigger (the outline of the original is visible).
